Floreat Education Academies Trust appoints its first CEO

The Chair of the Floreat Education Academies Trust (FEAT), Martyn Rose, has today announced that the Trust is to appoint its first CEO. From 1st February 2016, the position will be filled by FEAT’s current Executive Principal, Janet Hilary.

Current Managing Director of FEAT, James O’Shaughnessy, will become a Senior Adviser to the Trust as he balances his role at FEAT with his new responsibilities as a member of the House of Lords.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Rose said:

“Appointing our first CEO is another major step forward for Floreat as we work towards our ambition of creating a family of world class primary schools. Janet Hilary has already proved herself to be one of the UK’s best education leaders, and I am confident that she will be just as successful in the new CEO role.

“The whole organisation is deeply indebted to our founder James O’Shaughnessy for his vision, passion, commitment and leadership, not only in creating Floreat but also for establishing its values and culture. We are fortunate that James will play a continuing and vital role in helping Floreat achieve its ambitions.”

Commenting on becoming CEO, Mrs Hilary said:

“I am delighted to be appointed CEO of Floreat Education Academies Trust. Our schools provide unparalleled opportunity, high achievement and strong moral values.

“Floreat parents tell us they love what we do and families thrive in partnership with us. I look forward to building a group of schools where every child can flourish and live life to the full.”

Commenting on the changes, Lord O’Shaughnessy said:

“Four years ago I left politics to create primary schools that provide a knowledge-rich academic education and develop pupils’ character virtues. Today Floreat has two open schools, three in pre-opening, and a fantastic team that will help us become one of the leading school groups in the world.

“Founding Floreat has been one of the most exciting and rewarding things I’ve ever done, but given my new responsibilities in the House of Lords it is right that I move into a different role.

“I’m thrilled that Janet Hilary will be taking the new CEO role at Floreat. She embodies everything I wanted Floreat to stand for and will lead the organisation through the exciting next stages of its development.”
